Embroidery
For Delphine, embroidery is above all a childhood memory. When she was a little girl, she used to secretly embroider with the little granny who lived in the apartment below her parents. Her history with embroidery is inextricably linked to this notion of passing on know-how. Embroidery is above all a childhood memory for her. Later, in her work as an illustrator, traditional embroidery was a way for her to sublimate her drawings and illustrations. She soon realized how precious a design could become, when embroidered with beautiful threads and pearls.
Her universe is mainly inspired by nature and women. She likes simple lines, following the curve, the undulations of the line with the needle imposes a form of slowness.
The time it takes to create an embroidered work allows her to rediscover her own designs, stitch by stitch, gently, almost poetically, giving way to a moment of contemplation in which she likes to let herself be carried away.
